Member - Algonquin Park Committee
The CPAWS-Ottawa Valley chapter is seeking up to three individuals to volunteer on its Algonquin Park Committee. This newly created committee will be dedicated to exploring opportunities to continue to protect and conserve the Algonquin Park.
Strategic planning, partnership development, relationship building, event planning, and communication and marketing activities will be involved in the activities of the Algonquin Park Committee, and we are seeking individuals who can contribute their skill-sets to the development and implementation of the activities related to this Committee.
Volunteers on this Committee will be responsible for contributing to the activities of the Committee, representing CPAWS-OV to external stakeholders with a high degree of professionalism and kindness. The time commitment is a monthly meeting of about 1-2 hours, as well as independent or additional work of up to 10 hours a month. Travel to the Park may be required based on the workplan that is developed. Carpooling is possible, so applicants do not need a car or license to apply.
Preference will be given to applicants with experience in strategic planning, partnership development, and with relevant lived experience. CPAWS-OV is dedicated to working in partnership with Indigenous Peoples, and will prioritize applicants with an Indigenous identity. We will also prioritize individuals living close to the Algonquin Park and/or Dumoine River.
How will this opportunity benefit the volunteer?
This is an excellent opportunity for a young professional looking to gain professional experience, and for seasoned professionals who are passionate about the Park and would like to contribute their time and expertise in support of its protection.
How will the organization benefit?
The organization will benefit by expanding its reach into the Algonquin Park region, which will contribute to strategic goals of the Ottawa Valley chapter of CPAWS.
