General Classroom Support in an OCDSB School
Volunteers are assigned to a specific classroom in an OCDSB school to assist the teacher and students by working one-on-one or in small groups to reinforce lessons and conduct classwork.
You will carry out various tasks depending on the teacher’s needs, under their supervision.
Volunteers generally help at the primary level, but sometimes there is a need to support older students.
Subjects include – Language (reading and writing), English as a Second Language, French, Math, Science, Art, etc.
VOLUNTEERS MUST BE 18 YEARS OF AGE AND OLDER.
We ask volunteers to apply to our volunteer database, providing 2 references and a clear Police Vulnerable Sector records Check (PVSC). We will provide a personalized letter for volunteers to use in the application for the PVSC to waive the fee.
Once the screening process is complete and approved, you will be connected with a member of the school staff to discuss the details/ scheduling.
