Volunteers with the Drum fit Program will complete the following task to support the home area Program Facilitator in guiding the residents through the program
– Aiding to gathering equipment and set up for program
-Escorting residents to the program space. This will including pushing wheelchairs, training will be provided.
– Participate in program with residents, assist residents through out program through cueing and encouragement

Volunteers with the Drum Fit program must have Tuesday afternoon availability of 1.5 hours between 1pm-4pm.

How will this opportunity benefit the volunteer?
Through their support the volunteer will engage and support older adults living with dementia and other cognitive/physical impairments that impact their daily life. The volunteer will gain knowledge related to the understanding of physical and social interventions on the well-being of older adults. They will learn skills related to meaningful communication and cueing.
How will the organization benefit?
The success of our Drum Fit program is reliant on a large number of residents being meaningfully engaged throughout the length of the program. The volunteers support will help to ensure smooth transition into and out of the program, increase social interaction and engagement for the residents. The volunteer role will be support our program facilitator throughout the process.
