Choir Program assistants would be required to fulfill the following task to assist in facilitating the program for residents.
-Escorting residents from their home areas to the meeting space within the home and support to escort the residents back to their home areas. This will include needing to be able to push a wheelchair. Training will be provided.
-Assist the Music Therapist to facilitate the program through ways such as; Passing out the song books, sitting with 1-2 residents for encouragement, answering resident questions, singing along with the residents.
-Clean up for the session- Assist to rearrange room following all residents returning to their home areas, picking up song books, disinfection of any instruments used.
-Participate in a group debriefing session with other choir assistants and the music therapist following each choir session.

Volunteers do not require musical experience but should be comfortable singing along with the residents. The volunteer’s enthusiasm for the music helps to create a positive and encouraging environment for our residents.

How will this opportunity benefit the volunteer?
Volunteers in the Choir program will gain first hand experience working with older adults experiencing cognitive and physical impairments including those living with dementia.
How will the organization benefit?
The Choir program supports our residents to be empowered to make choice, have a feeling of belonging and improve social connection and avenues for genuine communication for the residents of The Glebe Centre. Through the support of volunteers a larger number of residents will be able to participate meaningfully in the choir program.

77 Monk Street Please note that we are not able to provide parking near the home. There is free on street parking with a time limit of 2 hours and secure underground parking at Lansdowne TD place for a fee. The bright side we are on direct bus routes 6 and 7 that have stops right in front of the Centre on Bank street.
