Organization: Ottawa Valley Wild Bird Care Centre
Location: Ottawa, ON
Average Hours: 10 hours monthly
The Ottawa Valley Wild Bird Care Centre is a wild bird rehabilitation in the Ottawa region, caring for thousands of injured, orphaned and ill birds each year. This is an exciting, yet challenging time for the Centre, as it has committed to building a new facility on a 17+ parcel of land located on McCarton Road, and is currently in the site plan control process phase of pre-construction.
We are looking for new board members who are strategic thinkers, passionate about birds, and share our vision, mission and values. We strive to have a diverse board with a wide variety of skills, backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences. Regular Board meetings occur bi-monthly by Zoom.
Governs the organization using its bylaws, policies and procedures
Participates in Board Meetings and related meetings as required
Prepares for and participates in deliberations of the Board
Support the ongoing development and implementation of a long-term vision and strategic plan
Stays informed about related about related issues that may affect the Centre
Be available to provide specific expertise as required
Support the implementation of the Centre’s mission
Make a meaningful personal financial commitment to the Centre
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
Passionate about birds and nature
Excellent inter-personal and communications skills
High ethical standards
Critical & strategic thinking
Previous experience serving on a charity or non-profit board (preferred)
Specific Experience Sought
Professional engineering, currently licensed (civil or geotechnical)
