Description

Màmawi Together is continuing its search for new Board members. We are looking for 1 or 2 candidates that identify as Indigenous. (First Nations, Métis and Inuit)

Màmawi Together strives to have its Board of Directors be inclusive and diverse. We have always maintained a 50% ratio of Indigenous to non-Indigenous Board members and would like to continue that mandate. We feel it is imperative that we have various Indigenous voices on our Board as we liaise and work with Elders and Indigenous organizations consistently.

Màmawi Together is a Not-for-Profit, grassroots community organization which has brought  together an exceptional team of educators, community leaders and facilitators to provide a solid foundation for education, cultural awareness, community,  youth engagement and leadership development.  Màmawi means “Together” in the Algonquin language. Ottawa, Canada’s capital city, is located on traditional Algonquin territory.  The Truth and Reconciliation Commission 94 Calls to Action for Reconciliation guide Màmawi Together. A large majority of the Calls to Action relate to education and challenge the current education system and curriculum.  Central to all the recommendations is the commitment to ensuring the next generation of Canadians be provided with a better understanding of Indigenous history, culture, language and traditions, and building stronger foundations of respect, appreciation and understanding.
