Description

We host an annual artists residency along the Dumoine River in west Quebec in early August. Artists are immersed in the wilderness of the region and create artwork inspired by the region to help raise awareness of the need to conserve our lands and waters, but also to help raise funds for CPAWS Ottawa Valley by donating at least one finished piece of art to the organization for fundraising purposes. We have space for approximately 15 to 20 artists, while many artists return from one year to the next, we have a few vacancies to fill for 2023 and we are hoping to recruit artists from various backgrounds and forms of expression. We are seeking a volunteer with knowledge of the local and regional visual arts community who would be able to share details of the retreat with organizations and individuals to encourage them to apply to the residency, this could involve posting the opportunity on websites, posting it to social media groups and/or identifying influencers and others with lists where it may be distributed. There is some urgency as we would like to have the 2023 cohort in place by mid to late June as the retreat takes place from August 2 to 8.

How will this opportunity benefit the volunteer?
This opportunity is a great way for a volunteer to develop and strengthen project management and information management skills, research skills, communications skills while learning about the local arts community. The volunteer is also welcome to attend the retreat should it be of interest to them as a guest of CPAWS-OV.
How will the organization benefit?
This event is a major fundraiser and awareness raiser for CPAWS-OV. We are also committed to diversity and inclusion and we would like the artists in attendance to reflect the composition of the region in which we work.
